The training centre is situated in Britain’s ocean city Plymouth, and will be holding 2 courses per month, one on stairlift installation, servicing, fault finding and repair, the other on mobility scooter, powerchair and smaller mobility equipment servicing, fault finding and repair.

Background

Mobility Equipment Training Centre Ltd, is the training company of Best Mobility Lifts, who have been fitting, repairing and servicing stairlifts, hoists, through the floor lifts mobility scooters and powerchairs for over 14 years.

Steve Whitmore, owner of both companies, is a very experienced instructor with a military background. Apart from being a Chieftain tank commander, Steve had many instructor roles including 12 years teaching experience in signals and telecommunications.

“My teaching experience started from my 14 years in the army where I was a chieftain tank commander and had many instructor qualifications. I taught in the regimental signal school, covering all aspects of communication and radio equipment, as well as installation of radio equipment in to armoured vehicles, for 12 years.

“Since being in civvi street, I have been a training manager for both the A.A and R.A.C for over 16 years, then in 2004 I started my own business in the mobility/disability sector.” – Stephen Whitmore

Mobility maintenance training“In April 2015 we moved from Coventry to Cornwall to help our daughter and family. We soon established ourselves in the South West, fitting lifts from Saltash to Lands End.”

We are now based in Plymouth, and after 3 years preparation and planning we have opened Mobility equipment training school, with the intention of employing local people. Our target is to train 120 people per year from all over the UK. This will give them the knowledge and skills to be employed in the mobility sector.
